At the Annual Church meeting in October of 2022, Hopewell Church approved their Þrst-ever deacons to care for and serve the members and guests of Hopewell Church. On Sunday, January 7, we ordained each of the deacons into service and prayed over them as they began their service in ministry. This Þrst deacon class will serve for three years, and we will add three deacons each year, settling on a total of nine (9) deacons at the end of the three-year period.
In addition to the six active deacons, Hopewell also honored Kitty Beck and Rose Burton by ordaining them as Deacon Emeritus. Both Kitty and Rose have been faithful servants to Hopewell Methodist Church providing congregational care to many of the members of the years. Besides congregational care of their assigned families, the deacons also have oversight of different ministry areas within the church. Those ministry areas are not for them to orchestrate and facilitate; rather, they are available as a resource to help identify areas for the respective ministries and help procure resources to help
support the ministry events.
Below, you will Find the names of our current deacons, the families they are responsible for, and the ministry area they may have oversight. I encourage you to keep them in prayer as they embark on this new area and season of ministry.
